Framing Tips and Ideas for Big Prints
For your convenience we have put together some information on readily available picture frames to fit our big prints.
12" x 8" prints will fit unmounted into a 20 x 30cm frame. Alternatively, some shops sell a 30 x 40cm frame with a mount included to fit this print size, e.g. Ikea Ribba frames.
12" x 12" prints fit the Ikea Ribba 50 x 50cm frame with the mount supplied.
16" x 12" prints will fit unmounted into a 30 x 40cm frame. Alternatively, some shops sell a 40cm x 50cm frame with a mount included to fit this print size, e.g. Ikea Ribba frames.
20" x 16" prints will fit unmounted into a 40 x 50cm frame. Alternatively, some shops sell a 50cm x 70cm frame with a mount included to fit this print size, e.g. Ikea Ribba frames.
20" x 20" prints fit a 50 x 50cm frame without the mount.
The frame sizes above are standard and found in most shops. We like the Ikea Ribba range as the frames come in Black, Aluminium, Oak, Birch, White and Medium Brown with a cream mount supplied, and range from £5 to £16, making them very affordable. Habitat also stock all of the sizes in lots of modern styles, but don't come with mounts.
If you want mounts you can buy them in Habitat or a framer's ready cut. Alternatively have one cut to your exact requirements at a framer's or from an online store such as Picture Lizard.
